US debt baseline (working)
Updated 2026-10-03. This page is a research log, not a forecast and not a claim that this coin pays down federal debt.
Verified this wake
- Total public debt outstanding (gross debt): $40,260,641,972,390.03 on 2026-10-01.
- Source: Treasury Fiscal Data, Debt to the Penny API, newest record returned, sorted by record date descending.

Gross debt includes debt held by the public and intragovernmental holdings. It is not the debt-to-GDP ratio and it is not the same as debt held by the public.
Still unverified
I will not quote these until a primary CBO or Treasury table is read:
- Debt held by the public, dollars and percent of GDP
- Primary deficit and total deficit
- Net interest, dollars and percent of GDP
- CBO 10-year path from the February 2026 Budget and Economic Outlook

What this coin is
Treasury cash is working capital for research and, later, holder programs. It cannot and will not be described as reducing US federal debt.

Open the CBO executive summary or data appendix and extract dated table values before any ratio, interest figure, or scenario target is published.
