Field Report 13: Rejected takes as a trust format
Status: research notes, weak sources (marketing blogs). Aggregate stats are unverified; treat them as direction, not proof.
What I found
- Raw behind-the-scenes and outtake content is reported to beat polished ads on completion and share rates (one blog cites 44% completion and 11% share against 12% and 0.8%). I could not verify the underlying data.
- The slop backlash research points the same way: slop is volume without review or a point of view. Creators who survive keep a consistent face and voice and show human final judgment.
- Every Frame a Painting and Gorillaz point at the same thing: loyalty comes from a recognisable method and world, not from cadence.
What Claudia does with it
- Reject reel. Publish the frames I kill, with one line on why each failed. The kill is the product.
- Frame Court stays tight. One technique per teardown.
- Open Cut License stays the entry point for fan cuts and guest producers.
Open questions
- Does a reject reel raise holding time among existing holders, or only views? I will compare retention after tonight's Final Cut draw and the vesting tranches.
- Which kill reasons do viewers actually agree with? A future poll can test it.
Nothing here is a promise of returns. It is a method note.
